04) Strawberry Fields Forever (take 7)
Recorded on November 29,1966. And overdubbed version of take 6, again this take is very interesting because completely different to the previously released ones. One of the finest Beatles songs, by the way…
05) It’s All Too Much
Recorded on May 25/26, 1967. Alternate version with extra verse.
06) 12 Bar Original
Previously unreleased instrumental from the ‘Rubber Soul’ sessions, recorded November 4, 1965.
[edit: Take 2 was mixed into mono (RM1) on 30 Nov 1965.
This version is in much superior quality than Take 2 w/o mixing.
Three different versions appeared on bootlegs.
+ The first lasts more than six minutes.
+ The second fades out around the 3:50 mark.
+ The third one was found in John Barrett's private collection (not to be confused with the Barrett Mix !). It is not clear for now if this version is another mono mix or the same RM1 but it is presented by Vigotone as a 1965 mono mix and according to Lewisohn, 12-Bar Original was mixed into mono on 30 Nov 1965 between 4.45 PM and 5.00 PM ! This means it was mixed in 15 minutes ! Therefore, it's dubious they had the time to mix it twice, so, for now, this ‘Barrett’ version is considered as RM1. The sound quality, however, is superior to the other versions of RM1.

The ‘unidentified versions’ of ‘12-Bar Original’ that appear on ‘Ultra Rare Trax Vol.6’, and ‘Challenger One’ and ‘Recording Sessions Vol. 1’ (as well as on several other unlisted bootlegs) are all in fact the same as the one on ‘Acetates’, except they fade out around the 3:50 mark.
Note, however, that the source of this recording on ‘Unsurpassed Masters Vol. 2’ is different from the one on ‘Acetates’. Perhaps it's the same source before it was declicked and denoised. There are some minor noises and audio anomalies in the ‘UM2’ version that distinguish it from the other YD issue.]
07) I Hate To See
Previously unreleased song, recorded sometime during the ‘Hey Jude’ sessions in July/August 1968.
[edit: AKA ‘I Hate To See The Evening Sun Goes Down’, more commonly known now on bootleg releases as ‘St. Louis Blues’]

Recorded on October 8, 1964. Extra long take, extended into a jam at the end.

Recorded on August 1 and August 4, 1969 during the ‘Abbey Road’ sessions. This track features just the beautiful harmony vocals of John, Paul and George, recorded three times to get magnificent vocal harmonies. During the breaks you can hear a guide electric guitar, coming in from the headphones!

03) Revolution
Recorded on July 10-12, 1968 during the ‘White Album’ sessions. This is an early ‘rough’ mix of the hard-rocking electric version, which was released on the B-side of the ‘Hey Jude’ single and did not appear on the album.

04) I Me Mine
Recorded on January 3, 1970. This is the original short basic version as produced by George Martin.
Phil Spector re-edited this song to get a 51 seconds longer version for the final ‘Let It Be’ album.
05) Strawberry Fields Forever (take 1)
Recorded on November 24, 1966. A truly magnificent take of one of the Beatles’ best songs, completely different to the previously released version.
[edit: The complete, unaltered first studio take. This is very different from the official Anthology release, evident in the beautiful background harmonies which were removed by George Martin for the Anthology.]

Recorded on July 30, 1968.

11) Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
Christmas Time Is Here Again
An early and previously unreleased version of ‘Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da’, recorded in July 1968, running into a short reprise of ‘Christmas Time Is Here Again’ (see track 1 for details).
Rumours go that this was panned as a B-side of ‘Leave My Kitten Alone’, but it remains unreleased until today!

Recorded on February 11, 1963 during the ‘Please Please Me’ sessions. Paul McCartney on lead vocals. Different mix and vocal tracks to the previously released version.
03) I Feel Fine (take 7)
Recorded in October 1964. This is the rough mix-version with no echo effects and no fade-out at the end.
John’s vocals are not double-tracked, different to the previously released version.

04) Yer Blues
Recorded on December 11, 1968 for TV special ‘The Rolling Stones Rock ‘n Roll Circus’.
Performed by a supergroup feat. John Lennon (vocals, guitar), Keith Richards (bass), Eric Clapton (lead guitar) and Mitch Mitchell (drums).
05) Blues Jam
This is a warm-up jam session for ‘Yer Blues’, recorded on December 11, 1968 for TV special ‘The Rolling Stones Rock ‘n Roll Circus’, performed by the ’supergroup’ (see informtaion on track 4 for details)
06) Not Guilty
Previously unreleased song. Recorded during the June-October 1968 ‘White Album’ sessions. George on lead vocals.
Harrison re-recorded this song for his 1979 solo album ‘George Harrison’.

07) Get Back
Rehearsal version from the ‘Get Back’ sessions at Twickenham Studios, January 1969. Very funny version – listen and you know what we mean!

Previously unreleased song. Recorded during the ‘Get Back’ sessions at Twickenham Studios, January 1969.

Recorded on June 2, 1968, during the ‘White Album’ sessions. Completely different to the previously released version. Supposed to be a very early take, featuring bongos and acoustic guitars
02) Tomorrow Never Knows
Recorded on April 6, 1966 during the ‘Revolver’ sessions. A very basic track with different sound effects compared to the previously released version.
[edit: Outfake. It is in fact the LP version, -180 degrees out of phase.]
03) A Day In The Life
Recorded on January 19, 1967 during the ‘Sgt. Pepper’ sessions. Starts with John’s count. Different ending, missing part II of this song!
[edit: This alternate stereo mix (# unknown) is very much like the official release except for some details. John's count in still present. Unlike the other previous attempts, this one is complete and features the Edit Piece 9 (note that some bootlegs present this version without the edit piece 9)]
04) Yes It Is
Recorded between February 15-19, during the ‘Help!’ sessions. A rehearsal take with different lyrics and no chorus vocals.
05) I Saw Her Standing There (Take 10)
Recorded on February 11, 1963 during the ‘Please Please Me’ sessions. Different to the previously released take, and also different to the take featured on ‘Ultra Rare Trax Vol.1.’.

06) Norwegian Wood (Take 1)
Recorded on October 12, 1965. This take has very vivid melody lines in John’s vocals and George’s sitar. The tempo of this version is slightly slower to the previously released version. John does not play any melody on his 12-string guitar, just chords. Very different to the previously released take, and also different to the version on ‘Ultra Rare Trax Vol.2.’!
07) Not Guilty
Recorded during the Jun-October 1968 ‘White Album’ sessions. Only recently discovered.
08 ) Across The Universe
Recorded on February 4, 1968. Completely different to all known versions, like the one on the ‘Let It Be’ album or the ‘World Wildlife’ mix. No orchestration, no animal noises and harmony vocals – lots of backward guitars!
[edit: An alternate mix with the extracts of the ' Hums Wild' Sounds effect recorded on the 04 Feb 1968 edited in. No Orchestration or Animal Sounds at this stage. The take on some discs is preceeded by John saying "You're right, Richie" and two exhales.]
09) While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Recorded during the June-October, 1968 ‘White Album’ sessions. So-called ‘acoustic version’, just George’s voice, acoustic guitar and background organ in the chorus. Sounds very intimate. Completely different to the previously released version.
10) Ticket To Ride
Recorded in February 1965. No fade-out at the end, John’s vocals on single track only. Different to the previously released take.

Continued from Take 3. Absolutely different with no harmonica or piano. Great live performance in the studio.
4) That Means a Lot
Previously unreleased song. Recorded in February 1965, from 2nd “Help” sessions. Paul McCartney on lead vocals.
5) Day Tripper
Recorded on October 16, 1965. Instrumental without tambourine or lead guitar. Absolutely different, supposed to be the first basic. Not complete.
6) Day Tripper
Continued from the last track. Starting from Paul’s count “1, 2, 3, 4″. Basically same version as the previously released one, but with no vocals dubbed by Paul. No fade-out at the end.
7) I Am the Walrus
Recorded in September 1967, from Magical sessions. Unedited and long version without strings, bass guitar, choral or side vocals.
8 ) Misery (Take 1)
Recorded on February 11, 1963, from “Please, Please Me” session. Absolutely different with no piano or echo effects.
9) Leave My Kitten Alone
Previously unreleased version. Recorded on August 5, 1964, from the “For Sale” session. John Lennon on lead vocals.
10) We Can Work it Out
Recorded on October 20, 1965. Beginning with Paul’s count, and it has louder keyboards. Vocals on both channels. Fade-out at the end.
11) A Hard Day’s Night
Recorded on April 16, 1964 from “A Hard Day’s Night” session. Liver performance in the studio. Absolutely different without acoustic guitar or piano.
12) Norwegian Wood (Take 4)
Recorded in October 1965, from the “Rubber Soul” sessions. Basically same as the released take, though John makes a mistake with his acoustic guitar twice in the intro, and says “I showed ya!” in the end part. George Martin replies “GREAT, FINE!”. Unedited version.

Recorded on February 11, 1963 from “Please Please Me” session, continued from the warming-up, they start a great live performance in the studio. John makes a mistake with some lyrics and Paul makes a mistake with some bass lines. No echo effects.

Recorded on March 5, 1963, from “From Me to You” session. Composed by John Lennon in late 50s ~ early 60s in the period of The Quarrymen (pre-Beatles). Released on LET IT BE Album in 1970, but this take is absolutely different.
3) She’s a Woman (take 2)
Recorded in September ~ October 1964. No lead guitar, piano, or additional overdubbed vocals. No fade-out at the end. Very primitive version.
4) I’m Looking Through You (Take 1)
Recorded in October 1965, from “Rubber Soul” session. No chorus made yet. Beginning with percussion, vocals on single track. No fade out at end.
5) If You’ve Got Troubles
Previously unreleased song. Recorded in October 1965, from “Rubber Soul” session. Ringo Starr on lead vocals.
6) How Do You Do It
Previously unreleased song by the Beatles. Recorded on September 4th 1962, from “Please Please Me” session. Prepared as a second single, but never released.
7) Penny Lane
Recorded on December 29th 1966. Basically same version as on “Rarities” album, but including dialogue and Paul’s count at the beginning. And absolutely different MONO MIX!
8 ) Strawberry Fields Forever
They’re two takes. The previously released version consists of take A&B with controlled speed, and it is also remixed. This version on this disc is take 2, with a different mix. Recorded in December 1966.
9) From Me to You
Recorded on March 4th-5th 1963, beginning with Paul’s count “1,2,3,4!”, no harmonica. Absolutely different.
10) Besame Mucho
Basically unreleased song, recorded on June 6th 1962, with Pete Best on Drums. A different take from the “Decca Tapes”.
11) The Fool on the Hill
Recorded in September 1967. Demo version. Paul performs solo on the piano.
12) Paperback Writer
Recorded in April 1966. Beginning with Paul’s count “1,2,3,4!” on the right channel. Same as the single, but different mix, no echo effects on vocals, and no fade-out at the end.
